Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your interest in the MBHS Early Child Development Laboratory Program. We are excited you chose us to begin your child's education in the early years of development as it is growing so rapidly during this time.

The Early Child Development Program has been designed to provide training for high school students in the field of early childhood education. The preschool program is high school student directed, under the guidance and supervision of the high school Child Development teacher.  While attending preschool, your child will be provided an opportunity to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. High school students are trained to provide individual attention that addresses the needs of each preschooler.  They ensure a warm, loving, kind environment with an exciting and adventure some atmosphere.  We are committed to a safe and healthy environment, where learning can take place.  High School students are provided with instruction in developmentally appropriate practices in accordance with guidelines established by the Montgomery County Public Schools, to include lessons in language arts, science and nature, math and numbers, social studies, music and dance, gross motor and fine motor activities, arts and crafts, and so much more!

Children must be toilet trained.
The Maryland Mandatory Kindergarten Law includes specific guidelines for dates of kindergarten enrollment for students with fifth birthdays. Since many different high school students will be teaching the preschoolers, the program is designed for the pre-kindergarten child who can cope with daily changes and flexible scheduling. Special education services are not provided through this program. Younger children will be considered as space allows.

Preschool will begin Monday, October 13, 2025, and continue through the middle of May.  Our program follows MCPS closings for holidays and weather related issues.  Hours of operation are from 7:50 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  Wednesday's are our high school seminar time (unless otherwise noted on the calendar provided every month.)
There is an annual fee associated with this program.  The cost is $600 total for the school year. You may pay on a monthly basis, which would be roughly $100.00/month.
